Have you been interested in learning to do some metal work? Do you like making interactive cacophony sculpture art? Then have we got a workshop for you!

Paije will be instructing a basic level metal work and safety workshop, with the goal of bringing musical art to Flipside. Each student will craft a “musical/sound” instrument during the workshop, and will be required and encouraged to bring it to Flipside to hang/display as interactive art!

We will be using pipes and scrap metal to create interactive musical devices to hang from trees etc around Flipside. People are welcome to bring their own scrap pipe/metal! We will be teaching basic safety, grinding and cutting, and wire-feed welding. We have 9 spaces open. Artists will take responsibility for bringing their creation to Flipside, and taking it down afterward.

Sat. May 14th 11am – 3pm-ish

Attendance is limited to 9 participants, please register using our workshop form: http://www.texasartgarden.org/?page_id=21

After registration, we will email the central Austin location to you.

In this two hour workshop we will go over the design of a basic “boosh cannon” – a simple propane flame effect with a big impact. We’ll talk about safety, design considerations and modifications, ignition methods, and wiring – everything you need to get started into the world of flame effects.  Workshop participants will get hands-on experience assembling a boosh cannon and have the opportunity to view assembled cannon art with the designer.  Participants will take home a notebook with plans for a basic boosher and parts to construct the “button” for their first cannon.

Got a Bad Idea for an art project but you need to see it in 3D before you build it?
Want to design the bestest ever hexayurt?

Want to create a fabulous but overly organized layout for your theme camp?

Want to submit a proposal for an art grant but can’t draw your art
piece in 2D in a way that makes any sense?

Come get sketchUmacated and learn the basics of Sketch Up to help you
create and communicate your vision.

You’ll learn:
how to create 3d shapes in 3 mouse clicks;

who is Bryce and what is he doing in my model;

how to use someone else’s models to make yours faster;
how to give your model textures and shadows;
how to put your model in google earth;
how to output your design into a 2d program like Photoshop.

The workshop will touch on all that and all the steps in between to
actually model your thing.

Bring a laptop with SketchUp (free on the interwebs) already
installed, a somewhat clear mind and your bad ideas.

When:  Dec 4, 2010 1-5 pm
Where: TBA
Register here

Registration fees are not required, but donations are gladly accepted to help offset the cost of this workshop.
